Facilities staff hosted more than 14 Wintersessions in 2025!

Whether you wanted to learn sewing or woodworking skills, make fabric art, or learn about sustainable purchasing or practices on campus, Facilities-led Wintersessions had something for you.

Staff from across Facilities hosted 14 different sessions, some with multiple sessions and days, during the annual learning festival organized by the Office of Campus Engagement

Trish Devine from Capital Projects hosted two sessions. One on print making where participants rolled fabric paint onto Princeton manhole covers and then pressed t-shirts and sweatshirts on to make patterns. She also hosted a session on embroidering reusable cloth napkins.

Robert Lussier in Engineering and Campus Energy hosted two stone balancing sessions. Participants got to zen out while creating sculptural stacks of rocks and stones.

Steve Lucash, Jacob Cortelyou, and Michael Mains from the Garage helped run a car maintenance and safety course along with Public Safety.

Marc Navarro, Sanitation Supervisor, gave a tour of the sanitation yard for members of the community wanting to learn more about the campus waste and recycling streams. Gina Talt from Sustainability helped organize the session and answered questions about the organics recycling process at Princeton.

Abby Reynolds, AVP Strategy Management, hosted two sections of a sewing class. Participants made their very own zipper pouch and learned the basics of machine sewing.

Jim Sullivan, with the help of Chris Smith, brought 16 students into the Carpenter Shop. Over two days, they glued, nailed, sanded, and stained their own chess or checkerboard. Jim had nearly 70 students sign up for the workshop.

Staff from Sustainability hosted more than seven sessions! They included a visit to the Stoutsburg Sourland African American Museum, a plant-based African cuisine cooking class, a floral arranging session, a seminar on making diverse and sustainable purchasing decisions, a vegan dip making class, a tour of the SCRAP lab, and trip to some area conservation organizations.
