Washington Road just got safer for all of us. To enhance safety and separate bikes from vehicles, delineated bike lanes are being installed on Washington Road. With safety and sustainability as two shared municipal and University priorities, the bike lanes allow a safer route for all cyclists while encouraging human-powered movement. The delineated bike lanes will be on Washington Road with flexible barriers separating vehicles from bicyclers, connecting the Meadows Neighborhood to Stadium, Lakeside, Woodlands, and The Ellipse Neighborhoods.

These safety improvements are recommendations that came from a planning study that evaluated pedestrian and bike safety along the Washington Road corridor. All improvements are inspired by and align with our Mobility Principles, as detailed in the video below.
