TIGER Wins Sustainable Achievement Award

March 1, 2024

Princeton was awarded the Plastic Pipe Institute’s Sustainable Achievement Award for 2022 for the TIGER Plant.

The Thermally Integrated Geo-exchange Resource (TIGER) building is a single-story structure combining both geo-exchange facilities and operations spaces to expand the University’s capacity to deliver thermal energy. The plant is a critical piece of infrastructure that allows Princeton to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2046.

The Sustainable Achievement Award was awarded to Princeton and its project partners Dow Infrastructure and Agru America. The award is a part of the annual Plastic Pipe Institute (PPI) Project of the Year program.

The geo-exchange project at Princeton is one of the largest in North America. To date, the project has installed more than half of its anticipated 2,000 geo-exchange wells, connected with miles of plastic piping.
