Theater Drive Garage, formerly known as West Garage, will be undergoing extensive repairs this summer. This work is the result of a campus-wide audit of campus parking facilities.

To limit the impact on employee parking, access to the facility will close entirely for a several weeks starting on June 14 and then re-open in sections in July in accordance with the following schedule:

  • Fully closed: Wednesday, June 14 to mid-July
  • Partially closed (returned in sections / levels): mid-July to mid-August

Transportation and Parking Services (TPS) is working closely with Facilities and the project team and expects to be able to fully re-open the garage before the start of the Fall 2023 semester.

Where should I park?

Access to Lot 20 and Lot 28 south of the garage will remain open but will likely fill early on most days. Please see alternative parking areas below (click to view map):

  • West of Elm Drive: Lot 19 at the Graduate College or Stadium Drive Garage. Both facilities have plenty of space available and TigerTransit provides frequent service from each facility to stops along University Place and Nassau Street (Routes 1 and 4).
  • East of Elm Drive, West of Washington Road: Stadium Drive Garage. TigerTransit offers a quick trip (5 minutes or less) from the garage to stops on Washington Road every 5-10 minutes during the morning and maintains at least 15-minute frequency all day long (Routes 1 and 4). Lakeside Garage is also open to commuters during this time and is an 8-minute walk to Yeh and New College West, or short TigerTransit trip to any Washington Road location (Route 2).

Note that all faculty and staff permit holders may use Prospect Avenue Garage during the summer, May 29 through September 1. However, other facilities in the Purple Zone and all restricted lots on campus will continue to be restricted to permit holders with specific permissions for those lots.

Coffee and pastries will be available between 8 AM and 10 AM at Stadium Drive Garage during the first two weeks of the Theater Drive Garage closure and every Wednesday until the repairs are complete.
