A new accessible path along the east side of Elm Drive, with a beautiful stone retaining wall, fixed two problems.
- The only accessible path along the west side of the Elm Drive curve, at Dillon Gym, was going to be cut off by the Class of 1986 Fitness and Wellness Center construction site.
- Pedestrians were often walking in Elm Drive at the curve instead of a narrow, bumpy, sidewalk on the east side of Elm Drive opposite Dillon Gym.
Facilities was tasked with installing a new path to divert pedestrian traffic off the edges of Elm Drive and to enhance the accessibility of the area. To accomplish this, a new pathway was carved into the steep slope, in front of Brown and Wright, and the narrow sidewalk on the east edge of Elm Drive was removed.
The path on the west side of Elm Drive, south of the Dillon Gym parking area, continues to be the way to reach the accessible entrance into Dillon Gym during construction.
