The Quantum Institute for Quantum Science and Engineering will be a multidisciplinary facility specifically built for the rigorous needs of quantum science and designed to create a focal point for the new research and educational efforts on campus. It will include ample lab space for new as well as for existing faculty members, as well as spaces to foster collaboration and cross-pollination. Given the existing strength at Princeton in the electrical engineering, physics, chemistry and computer science departments, proximity to these departments is critical for maximizing community and collaboration.
The facility will be carefully designed to meet the exacting standards for world-leading experimental systems in quantum science, as well as outfitting and providing space and staff for shared facilities in specialized high-end fabrication and characterization. In addition to experimentalists, the new facility will also be home to a group of theorists.
The Quantum Institute for Quantum Science and Engineering will be developed on University lands located south of Ivy Lane, north of Finney-Campbell Fields and Roberts Stadium, between Princeton Stadium and FitzRandolph Road.
As conceived in the University’s 2026 Campus Plan published in 2017, new facilities for Princeton Baseball, to replace Clarke Field, and Princeton Softball, to replace Strubing Field, will be developed in the Meadows Neighborhood in West Windsor.
- The Racquet and Recreation Fieldhouse in the Meadows Neighborhood, scheduled to open in Fall 2024, will include strength training, sports medicine, and new team locker rooms and coaches’ offices for Princeton Softball and Princeton Baseball.
- Princeton Baseball will continue to practice and compete on Clarke Field and utilize Caldwell Fieldhouse until the new facility in the Meadows Neighborhood is complete. Princeton Softball’s new Cynthia Paul Field is scheduled to be complete in Fall 2024.
